Keeping The Worries At Bay With A Little Help From The Fairies.

Since Ru has started to go to sleep in his room, he has developed a slight fear of the dark and having his door shut, so when asked if I wanted to review some the new arrival items from the The Irish Fairy Door Company I was instantly drawn to the 3-D toadstool nightlight!

This beautiful Night Light provides a warm and reassuring glow which helps children fall asleep.
The Night Light operates on a timer and switches itself off after 30 minutes, making it easy for everyone - nobody needs to remember to turn it off.
A gentle touch of the fairy door illuminates the light beautifully, helping little ones have a peaceful slumber.
Banish any fear of the dark with this magical, glowing companion for your child

I love that you can attach the light to the wall, and it fits perfectly in with his room theme.
Ru was in love with the light the moment he saw it.
It lights up his room just the right amount and gives off a nice warm glow.

He can turn the light on himself if he needs too and he often does.
I leave it on whilst we do our bedtime singing and then he's usually asleep before it turns it's self off.

The Worry Plaque

Give your worries to the fairies with this interactive Worry Plaque!
Fairy magic can take your worries from you with just one touch, leaving you worry-free.

The plaque glows red when you place your hand on it and think of your worry. When the fairies have heard it, the plaque glows green, signifying your worries have transferred to the fairies successfully.
Did you know fairies use human worries to grant wishes?
The energy in worries is ground down to make perfect wish-granting dust!

I love love love loooove the idea behind the Worry Plaque, unfortunately Jon's anxieties have rubbed off on the boys and they worry about everything and anything.
So with this I'm hoping they will let their worries drift off to fairy land and be a little more care free.

After watching the BFG Oscar no longer wants to have dreams as he's positive the BFG is going to come to his window and that terrifies him.
So each night I have to say "No Dreams For Oscar Mr BFG" and that often works until the morning and he remembers he had a dream.

So with the worry plaque Oscar has been using it just before bedtime to rid himself of his worry about the BFG.

Even Noah has been using it, he's always been a worrier and it's nice to see him letting them go.
All the boys come away looking happier!

You can buy both the 3-D Toadstool Light and Worry Plaque from The Irish Fairy Door Company's website

Paint Your Own Fairy Door Review

I have always been a big fan of the Irish Fairy Door Company so when I was asked to review a paint your own fairy door, a new product from them I was more than eager to say yes!
Fairies aren't just for girls!
My boys love the idea of fairies and having one come live with us has cause a big buzz in the house!

They are all on their best behaviour and love waking up to see if our boy fairy Flynn has left them a little note.

The idea behind the Fairy Doors is to keep the imagination alive!
Fairies also blow away bad dreams, take care of sick or hurt insects, collect teeth, write notes, take worries away, grant wishes, watch dreams at night to learn more about their humans, collect food and train Greenwings (trainee fairies).
These are just a few of the jobs they do. They also being good luck and happiness where ever they go!

In the paint your own fairy door kit you receive
a wooden door,
3 stepping stones,
felt tip pens,
paints,
a paint brush,
door art - flowers, clovers, toadstools, hinges, etc.
a magic key,
the Family / Fairy Lease Agreement,
a secret code to register your fairy,
colouring book / fairy welcome guide.

The boys asked me to paint the door and told me which colours to use.
They all then took it in turns to place on the decorations.

Once our door was dry, we placed it on top of our radiator cover by the front door, the twins thought this would be the best place for our new fairy to live. As its away from the dog and little Rupert hands.
They did get slightly worried about when we move to our new house, but I told them Flynn would be able to go and stay in Fairy Valley whilst we got set up and then we'd be able to invite him back!

Flynn was very easy to register over on the Irish Fairy Door Company's website, it took no longer than 5 minutes.

The night we put the key out the twins went to bed with out any hiccups, they were so excited about the next morning they couldn't wait to fall asleep.
In the morning they raced down the stairs to see if Flynn had moved in.

After school the twins each drew a picture and told me what to write in a note and they left them in front of his door!

I love seeing them get so excited when they talk about Flynn and what they want to leave for him and how all their bad dreams have gone.
Noah is desperate to loose another tooth so Flynn can take it off to his tooth fairy friend.
I have also told them if they really behave their special Elf Scout will come back this Christmas through Flynn's special door.
As you can imagine the boys are all trying their best to behave.

Both the boys and myself love the fairy door, the magic and fun it brings really is priceless!

These are just some of the benefits of having a fairy come and live with you:
  • Self-expression – children are encouraged to make up stories and draw pictures for their fairies
  • Language skills – developed through note-writing and reading with family
  • Recognition – fairies love to praise and let their humans know how proud they are of their everyday hard work and achievements
  • Support – fairies have often been very supportive of lessons when a message is being delivered e.g. “I love it when your room is nice and tidy! It’s makes it much easier for me to come in and out through my door!’
  • Make and do – we provide weekly updates, some of which are make and do activities. Once you register your fairy, you receive a weekly email to help the whole family keep the magic flowing easily
  • Emotional topics – fairies are amazing at taking worries away and sometimes even help to grant wishes!
If your looking for that perfect Christmas present why not buy a Paint Your Own Fairy Door for only £20.00.
It's sure to make any child glow with excitement!

*I was sent the product for free, in return for an honest review.
All thoughts are my own.

Sleep Tight All Night Igglepiggle Review

Sleep and Ru do not go together smoothly.
Everything was fine, until he reached two, then something clicked and Ru decided sleep was for the weak!

Most nights he wont fall asleep until 11/12 pm, some nights I'm lucky and he'll pass out around 10ish.
I have tried pretty much every trick in the book as well as crying down the phone to my health visitor for her to have some magically answer to fix it all.

Obviously she doesn't and can only tell me tricks that I already know!

So when I was offered a Sleep Tight All Night Igglepiggle, which promises the answer to a good night's sleep I was more than happy to give it ago!

Sleep Tight All Night is a versatile 4 in 1 product that has been specially designed to help teach children when to sleep and when it's time to get up - aiding the transition from cot to bed. It offers a unique sleep aid system that has been based on scientific studies relating to the colours associated with inhibiting and encouraging sleep.
Also fully adaptable for daytime play and an ideal travel companion, this innovative new product will become a must have for parents whilst offering a fun solution for children to enjoy.
With a range of soothing sounds and a glowing light this soft huggable toy will provide comfort and reassurance to little ones at bedtime with just a squeeze of the tummy.

How it works…

1. Timer. Set the timer for the duration you would ideally like your child to sleep; with a full nights sleep or just a quick nap
2. Sleep Bedtime – A gentle squeeze of the tummy will help your child get to sleep, using soothing sounds and red glowing light. The red light indicates to your child that it’s still night time
3. Awake during the night? A tummy squeeze will help comfort your child using soothing sounds and red glowing light
4. Wake. When the tummy is squeezed after the pre-set time is reached it will glow green to indicate it’s time to get up Play Time
5. In day mode, squeeze the tummy during the daytime play for fun character phrases.
The sleep aid module that fits neatly within the body of Igglepiggle has the following features sleep mode with timer

Parental lock to ensure little ones are not able to adjust the timer once set! • 2 volume settings

  • A choice of 5 soothing sounds including; falling raindrops, soothing surf, gentle heartbeat, whispering waterfall and comforting crickets. The module can also be set to no sounds, if preferred
  • Day mode Scientifically Proven… Investigations have shown that green wave lengths are beneficial during day light hours because they boost attention and reaction times. However, it has been proven to be most disruptive at night as it reduces that amount of melatonin the body produces and the ability to fall asleep. Red light is the least upsetting to your sight as it preserves night vision. It is the least disruptive to the natural body clock and the production of melatonin.

  • Ru's understanding of things isn't where it should be for a typical 2.5 year old as he is delayed somewhat, so when trying to explain to him that when Igglepiggle's tummy is red he is to stay in bed and when its green he can get up and play.
I'm sure with time  it will click.
However has does seem to understand that when Igglepiggle plays his calming ocean sound that it is time for sleep.

The calming sound of the sea and setting the timer for around 10 hrs (I can dream I know) has worked where other night time soothers have failed.

Ru has been falling asleep much quicker than usual and loves cuddling up to Igglepiggle, I have heard him wake in the middle of the night and heard him press Igglepiggle's tummy to turn on the ocean sound and then fall back to sleep without me being there.

His bedtime is slowly but surely getting closer to being 7 pm again rather than 11pm.
The last few nights he has been fast asleep come 8oclock and not woken until 6 the next day.

Jon and I are getting our evenings back and I'm getting some decent sleep.
Of course it doesn't always work and some nights Ru is still rocking around come 10pm but I'm sure its helping and by sticking to the routine his late nights will be something we come to laugh about!

I wasn't holding out much hope that this would work for Ru, but I'm so happy that it's working some sort of magic on him!
I'm no longer drowning in coffee and he is much happier during the day, and his tantrum's have subsided a little!

Where ever we go Igglepiggle is always by his side!

You can also get Sleep Tight All Night Teddy, Unicorn and Puppy.
So a teddy to suit any child!

Prices ranging from £34.99 to £29.99.
