Thomas & Friends™ Super Station

The ultimate Thomas & Friends track set yet, the Thomas & Friends™ Super Station.
Compatible with all your favourite Thomas & Friends engines, TrackMaster, Adventures, MINIS and wood, and with room for storing over 100 engines, little one’s imaginations will soar to the Island of Sodor!

For those of you who follow the blog you'll know how much Ru enjoys all sorts of vehicle toys, his love for his cars is strong but a close second is playing with his Thomas & Friends railway tracks.

He adores watching the trains go round and round - something that I put down to his sensory traits.
Often when he's had a hard day / week the one thing I know that will instantly help is building up a track and letting him slip away into a little Thomas trance.

Watching the trains go round instantly takes his focus and makes him smile!

All the parts
MINIS, Adventures, Track Master and Wooden Railways track toys.

So when I was asked if we wanted to review the brand new Super Station I jumped at the chance and responded with a yes straight away.

Ru had seen the advert for it on the television and pointed it out to me, something that he rarely does.
So I knew he would love it.

I really wasn't expecting it to be as big as it is, as sometimes toy size can be a little misleading but the Super Station is true to form and it is pretty massive.

It was so big that I had to move it from the lounge half built to the kitchen as I knew it was going to take up far too much room in the lounge.

Something that you can see for yourself in the pictures.

 Key Features;

Compatible with TrackMaster, Adventures, MINIS and Wood engines
  • Room for over 100 engines
  • 10 metres of track
  • Features iconic locations including Tidmouth Sheds, Brendam Docks, Knapford Station, the Sodor Steamworks, the Dieselworks and Blue Mountain Quarry
  • Use the adapter pieces to connect to other playsets to create an even bigger playset for hours of fun
  • Suitable from 3 years+
  • RRP: £129.99

Ru was keen to get playing as soon as I started building and he wouldn't leave me alone until I had placed some batteries inside the TrackMaster Thomas engine.
So whilst I built the track he let Thomas ride around the parts I had built whilst eagerly telling me to hurry up.

After deciding which track we were going to build first it took me around 20 minutes to build it.
As well as building the track correctly, I took my time making sure the stickers which were supplied along with the instructions were stuck nicely and in all the right places.

Once it was done, even I was impressed by it's size.
Ru was so impressed that he took his time walking around and looking at it taking it all in and whispering 'wow' to himself.

Ru loves that the track is the perfect height for him.
He can either sit down to play with the track on the floor or stand up to play with the train shed track and Cranky.

He gets so involved in play that I can actually get stuff done around the house with out him noticing.

I even managed to go to the shops on my own whilst I left him with Jon (something that I can rarely get away with) as he was just so immersed in watching Thomas go round & round and up & down that he hadn't notice me pop my shoes on and head for the door.

I love how you can store all the different trains on the track, as I'm always finding Ru's MINIs dotted around the house, so its nice that we now have a cool place to store them.
At least now we have all his trains in the one place and I don't have to spend ages searching all the toy boxes for them.

Unfortunately for me the Super Station won't actually fit in Ru's room so it will have to live in the kitchen until Ru allows me to take it down.

Though saying that, I have found myself enjoying making up all the different tracks whilst Ru is asleep to surprise him with in the morning.
It's becoming rather addictive in a way and I have been doing it every night this week!

Rupert really adores the Super Station, the twins enjoy a sneaky play and even Noah likes to get involved when Ru isn't looking and as I just said I can't help but enjoy building new set ups!

A definite win for all the Mini Beast crew.

This is definitely one of the top toys for this Christmas and if I hadn't been extremely lucky enough to  be offered the opportunity to review it, it would have been on the top of our Christmas list.

~ Junior Rubik's Puzzle Review and Giveaway ~

I have always enjoyed having a go on a Rubik's cube.... have I ever completed one?
No, but it is a life long mission of mine than has now been passed down on to the boys.
We have an old cube in the house that I've had since I was a child and I'm sure it has had some stickers removed and added on top of others in a bid to try and out smart it, but yet no one has actually managed to complete it yet!

So when I was contacted about become a Rubik's blogger I was more than keen to sign up .....  maybe this would be my chance at finally figuring out the secret to getting all those little squares matched up.

John Adams have a huge range of Rubik's toys, which when I looked actually  blew my mind at the vast range as I wasn't aware at how many there were, so I was eagerly excited about seeing which Rubik's toys turned up on the doorstep.

In our first package were these very cute Rubik's Junior animal puzzles which are suitable for children ages 4 and up.

There are four designs to collect;
Puppy, Kitten, Bunny and Bear.
RRP £9.99 available from Argos.

The twins picked the dog and bear puzzles to try their hand at ....

I adore the design, cute and sweet. Perfect for little hands!
Just perfect for little problem solvers!

They always get so frustrated at trying to do the original cube, so it was nice to hand them something that I knew they would be able to do.

As soon as they were unboxed they couldn't wait to juggle the colours around and race each other to see who could get it back to normal first.

The Rubik’s Junior puzzle is the ideal puzzle for little problem solvers.
The cute twistable character is so easy to grip and turn.
Twist the blocks to create a crazy mixed-up animal, but with relatively few combinations. It is easy to solve whist keeping your child entertained.

It took them a few tries but it didn't take them long to solve it.
They then decided to mix up each others and then see if they could solve it.

The puzzles are great for kids as they aren't as tricky as the original and they don't take too long to solve, which helps kids stay focus and not give up to easily.

The twins didn't struggle solving them, but they did have to think about how the colours and shapes went together, so it was nice to see their thinking faces!
I'm sure Alex even stuck out his tongue at one point.

The guys over at John Adams have give me one Kitten puzzle & one Bunny puzzle to giveaway to two lucky readers...

If you fancy winning one of these awesome little puzzles for very own little problem solver just enter the rafflecopter below.
They'll make fantastic stocking filler presents!

Rise Of Scar Playset

Disney Junior's The Lion Guard, Kion, the brave leader of the Guard, and his team are put to the test when they face the evil villain Scar!
Join Kion as he challenges Scar in the action-packed Rise of Scar Playset.

Key Features;

  • Playset features fun lights and sounds
  • Includes one exclusive Kion figure
  • Play flames light up and pop out and the head rises!
  • So many fun features including a snake attack, a collapsing bridge, a lava ball launcher, a battering ram, and more!
  • Batteries included

The boys all really enjoy watching The Lion Guard on Disney Junior so when this Rise Of Scar Playset from flairplc arrived they all went rather crazy.

The Lion Guard Follows on from the incredible story of Simba in the Lion King, this new hit series recounts the efforts of Kion, the son and youngest child of Simba and Nala.
Follow him as he tries to assemble a team of animals to protect the Pride lands.

I originally agreed to review it for Ru but the twins and even Noah enjoy playing with it and I often find them playing with this rather than on the tablet or DS.

Ru can easily be kept entertained playing with this with his Cars and Kion for anything from 10 minutes to half an hour. Which for him is a long time.

With Kion's movable legs its easy to switch him from a sitting pose to jumping pose in a flash and move his head around like he's really taking in the all the dangers around him.
Ru often stretched out his front and back legs like he was jumping around just like our new kitten Link.

Getting Kion to cross the bridge and then making it collapse always made them roar with laughter.
Ru's favourite feature was the Lava Ball.
He really enjoyed trying to get it fly all over the kitchen.

Scars head pops up slowly when you press his nose and as his rises his eyes light up and the flames pop out. After his is risen you can press his nose to make different noises, such as lion roars or monkeys chattering.

Ru really loved making Kion get up to all sorts of adventures... getting stuck in the vine jail and falling into the crocodile pit.
To think of it I don't think poor Kion had a good ending in any of Ru's adventures.

The boys did play nicely together but I think this toy would be even better if it came with an extra play figure.
We also had a slight problem with our batteries, but once I had switched them around the playlet worked fine.

This playset is perfect to act out scenes from the cartoon or let your imagination run wild and play like Ru does.

This would make a brilliant Christmas present (I know I mentioned the C word and it's only September...sorry) or even a birthday present for any Lion Guard fan.

Another big thumbs up from the 3 little Mini Beasts!

Fisher-Price Thomas & Friends Trackmaster Scrapyard Escape Set

This awesome set is inspired by the new film Thomas & Friends Journey Beyond Sodor.
The film sees new faces help Thomas on his action-packed epic journey, as he travels away from Sodor and across to the mainland, where he sees and experiences adventures that are beyond his wildest dreams.

One of the locations he visits is the Steelworks, and now little engineers can bring their imaginations to life with this exciting new playset from the Trackmaster range, featuring a motorised Steelworks Thomas engine!

 Key Features

  • Inspired by the new Journey Beyond Sodor film
  • Motorised action
  • Includes motorised Thomas, cargo car, two cargo pieces and full track layout with cable bridge crossing, Steelworks shack and cargo grabber
  • RRP: £39.99
  • Suitable from 3 years+

Rupert adores this Thomas & Friends track set and since we built it, he hasn't stopped playing with it.

It took about 5 minutes to put together and Ru even lent a hand.

Once it was all put together Ru started to push Thomas around but as soon as I placed the batteries inside Thomas and Ru saw that Thomas did it all himself, Ru went mad.
He loved rushing around and making sure the cable bridge was up so that Thomas could slide down it and collect his cargo.

Ru was mesmerised by the motion of Thomas and happily sat their for the rest of the day.
Even come dinner time, he quickly took a bite and then rushed back to sit in front of the track to make sure he put the cable bridge up and put the cargo back before Thomas came around again.

The twins and Noah all sat around at one point trying to have a go, but Ru gave them his "don't touch my toy or I might chop your hand off" look and they just sat and watched.
They all had their go when Ru was at nursery on Wednesday.

This really is one of the best Thomas tracks we have and the boys all love it.
A must buy for any Thomas fan.

Journey Beyond Sodor will be in cinemas from Friday 25th August, and tickets can be purchased here: http://thomas-journeymovie.co.uk/
Journey Beyond Sodor will be released on DVD on 16th October.

LEGO City // Jungle Halftrack Mission Review

I recently shared a post all about how LEGO and Nat Geo Kids were teaming up...

National Geographic Kids and LEGO® City have collaborated on a special partnership to inspire children to explore, discover and learn about jungles and the importance of their preservation.
Known for his Science outreach work and exploration of the "Boiling River” in the Amazon, National Geographic Explorer, Andres Ruzo, is spearheading the project, and is passionate about sharing the importance of these habitats with future ‘young explorers’.

Through LEGO City Jungle bricks, vehicles, and mini-figures Ruzo has created a fun way to highlight what incredible habitats jungles are, helping children learn more about their diversity, incredible plant and animal species, as well the importance of conservation for the future.

To go along side that blog post, LEGO sent me the new Lego City Jungle Halftrack Mission to review.

Noah loves his wildlife and often enjoys watching programmes like Deadly 60, Planet Earth etc, so when I told him all about LEGO's venture he was eager to get his hands on one of the new sets.

The Jungle Halftrack Mission comes with 4 bags and 3 instruction books!
The set includes a male and female explorer mini figures,
panther and spider figures,
a camera,
machete,
walkie-talkie,
pan
and a build-able campfire,
an AVT with removable crate and the halftrack with chain.
Total piece count - 378 pieces,
Recommended age 6+.

Noah found it really easy following the instructions and whizzed his way through the first book within 10 minutes.
He loved that he now has a LEGO panther, which is one of his favourite animals!

Book two was the Halftrack, he needed a little help with this and I was more than happy to lend a hand.
I love building LEGO, I find it quite therapeutic in a way.
It was also nice spending some one on one time with Noah, as that doesn't seem to happen as much as it should.

Book Three was the Temple.
Noah loved building this as he loved making the booby trap and laughed even more as he said it....
Much to my annoyance he didn't let me help with this bit.

This LEGO set was great fun to build, and we had even more fun setting the scenes for the photos in the garden and having fun playing with the mini figures.

It was great to see Noah's imagination come alive.

You can buy the LEGO Jungle halftrack Mission from SMYTHS Toy store for £24.99

He even went and fetched his Interactive Musical Chick to join in the fun.

The toys are lovely and super cute and I think they would make an ideal gift for any little Twirlywoo fan.
They're not overly priced and have they have a wow factor.
