-- Happy Halloween --

Happy Halloween!!!

The boys went off to a four hour Halloween party at martial arts last weekend, they all love dressing up and I secretly love getting arty with the face paints.

Sunday we got stuck into carving the pumpkins that we picked up from the pumpkin patch.
Jon and Ru attacked the massive white one and the boys all did their own, we're going to have to buy Alex a new pumpkin today as his had gone a little mouldy.

I turned mine into a vase and bought some autumnal flowers from Tesco's.
I also bought some bunting which I've been able to cut up into three different banners as it was so long and I've popped it up over the fireplace, in the hallway and in the kitchen.

I also found a recipe for Pumpkin spice latte cupcakes.
I wasn't too keen on them to start with, but the taste grew on me and I rather enjoyed them.
Even the boys loved them!

It's not really Halloween without some Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

I'm not sure if we are going trick or treating this year as Noah has parents evening on Thursday and we're away on Friday so probably we'll just get some Halloween themed snacks in and watch some family-friendly Halloween films after school.

Halloween is not complete without the yearly Halloween snap chat filter fun!

Hope you all have a fun Halloween.

... Banana and Walnut Cake with Chocolate Icing ...

I thought I would share with you the recipe I used for my most recent banana and walnut cake.
Ru even helped by smashing up the walnuts, something I think he enjoyed a little too much!

  • 2 eggs beaten,
  • 250mls plain flour
  • 150g light brown sugar,
  • 3 very ripe bananas,
  • 1tsp baking powder,
  • 1/2 tsp of grated nutmeg,
  • 25g smashed walnuts.
  • Icing Sugar
  • Coco Powder.

1. Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4 (160C/gas 3 for fan-forced ovens).
Grease a cake baking tray.

2. Mix together the butter and sugar until fluffy and pale in colour.

3. Beat in the eggs, a little at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Pre mash the bananas in a separate bowl and then add the bananas into the mixture.

5. Sift the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold gently.

6. Fold in the pre-smashed walnuts.
Making sure they have folded in evenly.

7. Transfer the mixture into the tin and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer placed in the middle of the cake comes out clean and dry.

8.  Transfer to a wire rack to cool for at least half an hour.

3 heaped tablespoons of normal icing sugar
1 heaped tablespoon of coco powder.

Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the icing over the top.

Num Noms Series 4 // Review.

To celebrate the new release of Num Noms series 4 we were sent...

The brand new Num Noms magazine,
Sweet Sampler Lunch box,
and the
Frozen yogurt starter pack.

Ru adores Num Noms so was over the moon to see all the new ones.
He was also pretty taken with the magazine and couldn't wait to get the toy camera out of the packaging.

The magazine was packed full of goodies and had lots of activities to do inside.
I'm sure this will be a magazine that Ru will want to buy again and again.
After Ru had finished looking at the mag and playing with the camera he moved on to the Frozen Yogurt Starter Pack RRP £11.95.

In the pack was -
Mango Sherbet,
Sprinkles Froyo,
Razzy Froyo
Orange Drop Gloss-up.
Along with a tray and spoon.

Ru's favourite was Razzy Froyo.

He then moved on to opening up the Sweet Sampler Lunch Box   RRP £17.99.

Inside he got -
Orange Crunch,
Violet Contessa,
Madelyn Macaron,
Tia Tea-Time,
Sugar Créme,
Nilla Shake,
Berries N Créme,
Hottie Chocolate,
Confetti Cookie,
Mint Swirl Gloss-up,
Lemon Drop Gloss-up

Inside the Lunch box you also receive a mystery box ... inside Ru's it was
Lemons Pink-Fill.

Ru was pretty impressed with his brand new collection of Num Noms.

After he had finished unboxing them all, he sat in the lounge for a while playing with them, lining them up and then putting them in his play kitchen then feeding them to me and Jon.
He also enjoyed putting on the lipgloss.

You can find Num Noms series 4 in all good toy shops!

Cake Toppers || Review and Giveaway

The guys over at CakeToppers contacted me, asking if I wanted to review some personalised cupcakes.

When cakes are offered the only answer is YES!

I got to choose a couple of pictures and then they did the rest of the work.
Delivery was speedy and they were nicely packaged.
No harm would come to the cakes if you had a clumsy postie!
I was sent one classic sponge and one chocolate sponge cupcake.

I was going to share a cake with Jon but he wasn't feeling too great and as soon as Rupert saw a cake with him on it, it was as good as gone!

The cakes were amazingly fluffy and the icing was delicious.
I managed to get a sneaky taste of the chocolate cake and for someone who prefers a classic sponge I would have quite happily gobbled up the chocolate one if Ru had let me.

These cakes are ideal for special occasions or a nice surprise for someone who needs cheering up!
Its not every day you get cakes in the post!
