Today is Roald Dahl Day!!!!
September is Roald Dahl's birth month, and each year people celebrate with a wonderful array of events centred around his birthday on 13th September.
This year it is focused on all things Twits, in particular the beard of Mr Twit! Booksellers are turning their shops into “beard boutiques”!!
We have joined in the fun by creating our very own Mr Twit beard .... We were going to make one but then Noah had the fantastic idea of using Jon as our Bearded Twit ..... He already has the Beard it just needed a few tweaks
Introducing our very own Mr Twit
He wasn't too impressed with Noah squashing Rice Krispies into his beloved beard, but he soon got into the spirit!
Noah used Rice Krispies, pasta shapes, scratch and sniff Twit stickers which came with the one of the books we were sent which smell horrid! Some yarn and some green shredded paper.
**** If you peered deep into the moustachy bristles sticking out over his upper lip, you would probably see much larger objects that had escaped the wipe of his hand, things that have been for months and months, like a piece of maggoty green cheese or a mouldy old cornflake or even the slimy tail of a tinned sardine. ****
The Twits is one of our all time favourites. It's sure to have us in fits of giggles every time we read it.
Noah has always said Mr Twits beard is a bit like Jon's, so that's where the inspiration to transform Jon beard came from.
Noah's favourite chapter is Mrs Twit gets a stretching!
He finds the tricks that the Twits play on each other highly amusing.
The Twits is a great classic book and I can't wait to read it to the twins once they are old enough. They don't have a great attention span at the moment!
